TACOMA, Wash. — A shoe store owner is fed up with burglars who have broken into his store several times in a span of eight weeks.
Scott Soine, the owner of Red Wing Shoes in Tacoma, said a man recorded by a surveillance camera is just one of several burglars breaking into his shop.
Soine said since Jan. 6, burglars have broken windows four times and entered the store, stealing money, ransacking the shop and costing him thousands in repairs.
The store owner said his business is not the only one dealing with crime, but he’s had enough.
“We’re not the only ones in the area. Across the freeway, there’s a business that has six boarded up windows right now,” he said.
Soine said the Tacoma Police Department has been helpful, but he understands officers can only do so much.
“Instead of getting knots in our stomachs about this, we’re going to fight back,” he said.
Soine and his crew are building a wall outside the store to stop future robberies.
In the meantime, police are still looking for the man seen on surveillance.
