TACOMA, Wash. — About 200 customers in Tacoma lost power after a demolition accident at the vacant Gault Middle School campus on Monday.
Demolition of several buildings on the abandoned school campus began last week.
Demolition crews were working to pick off the roof of the old school gym when something went wrong and it collapsed, according to the Tacoma Fire Department.
No injuries were reported, but debris spilled into a nearby alleyway, taking out several power lines.
Tacoma Power was at the scene working to restore power to customers in the surrounding area.
