TACOMA, Wash. — The Tacoma Police Department said it is taking action against an officer over a social media post.

Officials said officer Robert Hollingsworth violated city policy with a video sharing his personal political opinions while he was in uniform and sitting in his patrol car.

The incident occurred during Hollingsworth’s last patrol shift, ahead of his official resignation on March 13, 2022.

According to a press release from TPD, the officer “violated city policy.”

The department is moving to place the officer on administrative leave, which will include the surrender of his service weapon, badge and department identification.

“The Department had no prior knowledge of the individual’s personal political views, or their intention to post those views to social media while at work,” according to the press release.
