Girl escapes from man who kidnapped her in Tacoma; police looking for suspect

TACOMA, Wash. — A girl’s quick thinking allowed her to escape from a man who kidnapped her and forced her into his car in Tacoma.

It happened around 11 a.m. Sunday along Pacific Avenue near South 17th Street, across from the Tacoma Art Museum.

According to Tacoma Police, the girl was approached by the man who then followed her for several blocks before he forced her into a red 4-door Toyota.

He then drove to a store on Sixth Avenue near South Junett Street. When he got out of the car to go inside, the child ran away and called 911.

The case is being investigated as an attempted kidnapping or luring.

Police are asking anyone who has information or can identify the suspect to call 911.
