Tacoma police are on the scene of a fatal crash at East 34th Avenue and East D Street, the police department tweeted just after 4:15 p.m.
The intersection was shut down by police but was reopened.
According to police, a woman driving a minivan eastbound on East 34th Avenue was hit by a driver in a stolen Dodge going southbound on East D Street. That driver ran a stop sign at East 34th Avenue, causing the minivan to flip onto its roof.
Police said the driver of the Dodge that was reported stolen out of Puyallup ran away and was not found. There’s no word on any suspect description.
The Tacoma Police Department’s Collision Investigation Team was called to the scene to investigate.
