TUKWILA, Wash. — A teenager who was one of two people hurt in a shooting outside Westfield Southcenter Mall last month died from her injuries.
The Nov. 24 shooting happened outside the east entrance of JCPenney around 6:30 p.m.
According to a GoFundMe account created in her honor, 17-year-old Jashawna Brown was shot in the neck and spine. She died six days later.
The suspect fled the scene and it is not yet known what led to the shooting.
“Her dream was to be a pediatric doctor and she was already taking nursing classes to prepare herself,” KhMara Hollingsworth, a close friend who started a GoFundMe with permission from the victim’s mother, said. “Her love and light were able to bring almost anyone together and she will most certainly not be forgotten. I will miss her 3 a.m. group FaceTime calls, our sleepovers and our thousand take TIkToks.”
The GoFundMe will help Brown’s family pay the medical bills and funeral costs.
So far $2,000 has been raised.
