The Puget Sound region has a proud history of pets riding public transit, and 17-year-old cat and regular ferry rider Betty is no exception.
Betty’s owner is Everett Herald reporter Andrea Brown, who told the ferry service that she used to keep Betty in a pet carrier in her car during sailings. Betty took issue with that approach, and after she “meowed nonstop,” was let out to wander and people-watch moving forward.
Today, she’s ridden the ferry “up to a hundred times” over the last two years of adventures across the water with her owner.
This is Betty. She's 17 years old and a regular ferry rider... racking up a hundred rides in the past two years. Her owner @reporterbrown initially had her in a pet carrier in their vehicle during sailings but she meowed nonstop. So now she roams free and people watches. pic.twitter.com/Mk8sh8nhQg
