THURSTON COUNTY, Wash. — Cold weather can be dangerous and in some cases deadly. This is especially true for those who do not have appropriate shelter.
Saturday through Tuesday, Jan. 21, the following shelters will be available in Thurston County:
- Overnight Emergency Shelter at Sergio’s Place: Available for unsheltered adults over the age of 18. Saturday, Jan. 18 through Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2025, overnight from 8:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. The shelter guest entrance for Sergio’s Place is located at 3444 Martin Way Northeast. Pets are welcome. - Families with children under age 18: Nightly shelter available at Pear Blossom Place, 837 7th Avenue Southeast, Olympia, 98501. Ring the doorbell for entrance.
- Youth and young adults, ages 24 and under: Nightly shelter available at Rosie’s Place, 520 Pear Street Southeast, Olympia 98501. Call to sign up on weekdays starting at 9:00 a.m. Open nightly 9:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m. Call (360) 918-7879 for more information.
- Increased Shelter-in-Place Activities: Olympia Mutual Aid Partners will increase the distribution of survival supplies to individuals and families living outside.
How you can help
There is always a need for donations and here are some items shelters are asking for: blankets, twin/single bed sheets, ramen, non-perishable snacks, instant coffee, creamer, hot tea, hot chocolate, disposable cups and utensils, socks, long johns, underwear, tarps, ponchos, hand warmers, sleeping bags, tents, gloves/mittens, hats, warm clothing.
Sergio’s Place can take donations Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 3501 Mary Elder Road Northeast.
