A floatplane crashed and sank in the San Juan Islands on Friday. A pilot and three passengers were on board, but they survived with minor injuries.

<strong>August 2016: </strong>A Ketchikan man suffered minor injuries Monday night when his floatplane crashed during an attempted takeoff from a lake on Prince of Wales Island, <a href="http://www.adn.com/alaska-news/aviation/2016/08/16/pilot-rescued-after-floatplane-crash-west-of-ketchikan/">according to Alaska Dispatch News</a>.
<strong>September 2015:</strong> A floatplane carrying fishing guides and clients crashed Tuesday near a scenic lake in rural southwest Alaska, killing three of the out-of-state clients and injuring all seven other people on board, some critically, <a href="http://www.cbsnews.com/news/plane-carrying-10-down-in-alaska-3-dead-troopers-say/">CBS News reported</a>. <em>Watch KIRO 7 News' video report from September 2015 below.</em>
<strong>June 2015: </strong>9 people were killed in an Alaska sighting plane crash. A DHC-3T Otter, a floatplane, crashed in steep, mountainous terrain about 25 miles northeast of Ketchikan on Thursday. <a href="http://www.kiro7.com/news/plane-9-aboard-discovered-se-alaska-cliffside/43273534">Read KIRO 7's story here</a>.
<strong>October 2013:</strong> A float plane crash in 2013 killed three people off norther Vancouver Island. The Cessna 185 was owned by Air Cab, <a href="http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/3-dead-in-float-plane-crash-near-northern-vancouver-island-1.2224353">according to CBC News</a>.
<strong>October 2012:</strong> One person was been killed and another was sent to the hospital after a small plane crashed into Pitt Lake, east of Vancouver, <a href="http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/pitt-lake-float-plane-crash-kills-1-1.1133146">CBC News reported</a>.
<strong>May 2012:</strong> Three died after a float plane plummeted to the ground and burst into flames in British Columbia's Okanagan region, <a href="http://www.ctvnews.ca/3-confirmed-dead-after-float-plane-crash-near-kelowna-1.809915">CTV News reported</a>.
