SEATTLE — People were left scrambling to get to work and school Monday morning after several tires were slashed along 32nd Avenue West in Seattle’s Magnolia neighborhood. This follows a weekend when neighbors reported at least 19 other vehicles had tires slashed along 24th Avenue West in Ballard.
“When I was heading to work my husband called and said our car has two flat tires,” Cynthia Hacker told KIRO 7 Monday morning. “Somebody slashed all the tires down the street.”
Hacker has family staying at her home on 32nd Avenue and four of their vehicles were hit, including the truck her husband uses to get the kids to school. Hacker had to stay home from work to deal with it.\
On that block alone, KIRO 7 counted seven vehicles with slashed tires. Many had two tires slashed.
“It's hard to get your car to the shop to get two tires,” Hacker said. “I pulled up the receipt for one of ours and it was $900 for tires, and that was 10 years ago.”
KIRO 7 also talked to the owner of a truck five blocks away who had his tire slashed overnight Saturday. As of midday Monday, Seattle police did not have any suspect descriptions. They ask anyone with surveillance video showing the crimes to contact them.
“It's a disgrace,” Jason Goforth said as he pulled up on 32nd Ave West. “It's what's this world coming to? I can't understand why someone would do this stuff.”
