SKAGIT COUNTY, Wash. — A person walking along State Route 9 in Skagit County was killed Tuesday night, according to Washington State Patrol.
A vehicle hit the pedestrian in the Big Lake area, which is about seven miles east of Mount Vernon, around 8:05 p.m.
While investigating the incident, detectives received reports that a pedestrian, who matched the description of the victim, was observed running in and out of the roadway approximately 45 minutes before the collision occurred.
Witnesses described the suspect vehicle as a neutral-colored passenger car.
WSP says the vehicle is likely to have significant front-end damage.
SR-9 was fully blocked in both directions at milepost 47 while troopers investigated the incident.
WSP detectives are seeking the public’s help in gathering further information regarding the pedestrian and the suspect vehicle.
Authorities say the pedestrian and the suspect vehicle were likely to be seen in the northern Big Lake area between 7:50 p.m. and 8:50 p.m. Tuesday.
