TUKWILA, Wash. — UPDATE: Officer Johnson was later reunited with the little girl whose life he saved on Halloween.
A Tukwila mother said her 6-month old baby might not be alive today, if it weren't for a police officer who jumped into action during a medical emergency.
Hajrija Mihmic said her daughter Lamiayla came down with a fever last weekend and, by Halloween, she was suffering a seizure.
“I was, like, 'God, please don’t let me lose my baby,” said Mihmic. “She was not breathing for a while, a long time.”
Mihmic called 911 and, minutes later, Officer Dustin Johnson was at the door.
“It did not look good. The baby was on the floor and she was purple,” said Johnson.
Johnson quickly performed CPR and worked her to a recovery position when she gave him a sign of hope.
“One of the things that made me relax a little bit was when she squeezed my hand and then I knew it was going to be alright,” said Johnson.

Officer Johnson just started at the Tukwila Police Department in May. He moved here not for the job but for his daughter, who needed his lifesaving skills when she was just 4 months old.
Johnson performed CPR on his daughter Ivy when she choked on her formula. Her health problems prompted Johnson to move his family to Western Washington, where Ivy can see medical specialists at Seattle Children’s Hospital, which is where little Lamiayla is recovering.
Mihmic said she’s thankful that Johnson was there when her daughter needed him.
“I didn’t expect to call no other man than her dad a hero, but he helped her a lot. He saved her,” Mihmic said.
