LAKE STEVENS, Wash. — Two barns were completely destroyed by an early-morning fire in Lake Stevens on Tuesday.
The fire occurred in the 4300 block of 99th Avenue NE. Crews with the Lake Stevens Fire Department arrived to find the two 50 foot by 120 foot barns fully engulfed in flames.
The barns were located down a long driveway and the nearest fire hydrant was about three-quarters of a mile away.
“Firefighters had to use approximately 3,000 feet of hose linked to a series of water tenders and fire engines to get water to the fire,” A Lake Stevens Fire official said in a news release.
Firefighters from Getchell Fire District 22, Granite Falls Fire District 17, Snohomish Fire District 4, Marysville Fire and the Tulalip Fire Department assisted in the response.
Officials said crews were successful in keeping the fire from spreading to nearby structures and it took 2 1/2 hours for firefighters to extinguish the flames.
“Both barns were used as storage facilities. No animals or civilians have been reported injured. Multiple vehicles and equipment were damaged in the fire. Both structures were completely destroyed,” officials said.
The Snohomish County fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire and is working to determine the amount of property lost.
