THURSTON COUNTY, Wash. — Two people were killed in a wrong-way crash on southbound I-5 near Olympia early Thursday.
The Washington State Department of Transportation said it happened shortly after midnight near US 12 and involved a semi-truck and two cars. One of the cars was heading northbound in the southbound lanes, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The driver of the wrong-way vehicle, a-43-year-old Olympia woman, and her passenger, a 34-year-old Tumwater man, were killed in the crash. No one else was hurt.
All lanes of southbound I-5 were closed near US 12 in Grand Mound for more than five hours. The freeway reopened shortly before 5:30 a.m.
