SEATTLE — Two men were arrested in Seattle's SODO neighborhood after police said they attacked a driver and his family in a road rage incident.

Police said the driver, 38, was rerouting his GPS while driving near 4th Avenue South and South Spokane Street when the two suspects began to shout at him.

According to police, the suspects, who were in the same vehicle, began to follow the victim.

The victim then tried to let the suspects pass him.

Both vehicles then stopped at a red light at 4th Avenue South and South Lander Street, police said.

“There, a 59-year-old man exited the passenger side of the suspects’ truck and began punching the 38-year-old driver in the other vehicle through his open window,” a spokesperson for the police department wrote in a blotter post.

Police said the driver’s 64-year-old father, who was sitting in the back seat of the car, got out and tried to intervene.

According to police, both suspects then “armed themselves with broomsticks and a pole or pipe, and attacked the 38-year-old driver, his 64-year-old father, and the driver’s 57-year-old mother, who was also in the car and tried to intervene in the incident.”

Officers said they spotted the suspects near 6th Avenue and Lander Street and booked both into the King County Jail on investigation of assault.

Police said the 38-year-old and 57-year-old victims were treated at the scene and were transported to a local hospital.

The 64-year-old victim sustained a serious head injury and was transported to Harborview Medical Center for treatment, police said.
