BOTHELL, Wash. — Two officers were shot – one fatally -- after a police chase Monday night in Bothell.
Around 9:40 p.m., officers tried to pull over a black sedan along westbound SR 522, but the driver did not stop.
After a short chase, the car hit someone riding a Lime scooter, crashed through the center median and stopped in the 10300 block of Woodinville Drive.
The suspect then exchanged gunfire with officers and it was reported that one person ran from the car, authorities said.
As more officers arrived, they found two Bothell officers had been shot. One officer was dead.
Bothell Police identified the fallen officer as Jonathan Shoop. Police said Shoop had been with the department for just over a year and is survived by his fiancée, mother and two brothers.

Bothell police said the shooting suspect, identified as Henry Eugene Washington, was found trying to get down from the rooftop of a business and was arrested about 3:20 a.m. He was booked into the King County Jail on suspicion of homicide Monday afternoon.
“I’ve worked here over 25 years and we’ve never had an officer shot,” said Bothell police Capt. Mike Johnson. “So, this is some uncharted territory for us and it’s going to be a rough couple days for our organization.”
