ARLINGTON, Wash. — With warm weather here, some Little League baseball and softball towns are struggling to find umpires for their games.
Volunteers for the Stilly Valley Little League in Arlington said on many nights it is hard to find even one umpire.
It is the same for Marysville little leagues.
Umpiring is a volunteer effort in most of smaller leagues that really cannot afford to pay much. Lately, parents and coaches have had do the best they can to can the games themselves.
However, that is not an ideal situation and the game can suffer at times.
