Upper-level wildfire smoke to return this week

Smoke forecast for 9-30-20

SEATTLE — As the warm and sunny weather returns with highs around 80 Tuesday, smoke is expected to return as well.

Tuesday night, some upper level smoke and haze from wildfires in California is expected to push over Western Washington.

The haze should be around for the next few days, but should mainly be in the upper levels.

Currently, the haze and smoke does not look like the historically bad air from a few weeks ago because most of the haze should be in the upper levels. We’ll keep an eye on the air quality, but it shouldn’t come down too much.

Sunshine with hazy conditions will continue from Wednesday into about Saturday.

By Saturday, fresh air off the Pacific should push most of the smoke out of the area and that will continue into the end of the weekend. Temperatures will also take a tumble this weekend back to the 60s to low 70s, near or just slightly warmer than normal.
