The latest model by the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation out of the University of Washington predicts state death toll already reached its peak on April 2.

In late March, the model predicted the state would see almost 1,400 deaths by early June, peaking around April 19. As of Monday, it now predicts the death toll to be around 632 people, having already reached its peak.

The model is subject to change as more data arrives. The model is also based on Washington continuing social distancing measures through May.

Nationwide, UW’s model expects U.S. deaths to peak around April 16 and reach 81,000 by June 1.
