Video shows Hope Solo angry reaction to being cut from U.S. Soccer

Hope Solo's emotional reaction to a six-month suspension and her U.S. Soccer contract termination was caught on camera by a documentary crew.

Solo was part of a documentary series called "Keeping Score," capturing the Olympic journey of some members of the U.S. women's soccer team. That meant crews were still on hand when Solo heard about her termination, reports Dana Jacobson, of CBS Sports Network. 

A clip of the documentary was posted to YouTube in which Solo let out her anger to her husband, former NFL player Jerramy Stevens.

"Terminated contract. Not just a suspension," Solo is heard saying in the video.

"How can they do both?" Stevens asks.

"It's bull. Seventeen f<strong>------</strong> years and it's over," Solo says.

The U.S. Soccer Federation suspended and terminated the 35-year-old's contract for calling the Swedish women's soccer team "a bunch of cowards" after the Americans were bounced out of the Olympics in the quarterfinals.

Solo had caused a stir in Brazil even before the comment about Sweden because of social media posts about the Zika virus. Brazilian fans booed her mercilessly and shouted "Zika!" every time she touched the ball.

The 35-year-old has long been a lightning rod for controversy.

She still faces a possible trial on misdemeanor domestic violence charges after a 2014 incident at her sister's home in which she was accused of being intoxicated and assaulting her sister and 17-year-old nephew. Solo said she was a victim in the fight. Earlier this year, an appeals court in Washington state rejected Solo's request to avoid trial.

She was previously suspended for 30 days early in 2015 for her conduct.

In early 2015, while Solo was at a team training camp in Southern California, her husband, Jerramy Stevens,

in a U.S. Soccer team van. Solo was with him at the time.

U.S. Soccer indicated in its statement announcing her suspension on Wednesday that it was a culmination of events.

At the same time, Solo has been stellar on the field.

She became the first goalkeeper with 100 international shutouts last month when the United States defeated South Africa 1-0 at Soldier Field in Chicago. It also was her 150th career win.
