WASHINGTON — In all, 27,000 Boeing workers in the Puget Sound region will be back at work next week, and Starbucks says some of its stores are reopening too.
“They’re going to reopen with appropriate store protocols,” said CEO Kevin Johnson in a video to workers.
But with so much still closed, so much of the economy on hold, Republican state lawmakers are pushing their own plan to open more of the economy -- like residential construction.
“We can certainly look at the home construction industry,” said La Center State Senator Ann Rivers.
“I think that automobile dealers should be allowed to do business,” she added. “I (also) think that those recreational activities that are in the great outdoors where people can be outside getting fresh air and getting an attitude adjustment in a healthy way should be open, like golf courses.”
Those are things that California and Oregon now allow so Republicans believe Inslee can now ease up there.
“He was being very, very cautious … I’m not going to put a knock on him.
But on CNN today, Inslee remained firm.
“We are looking forward to driving infection numbers down to where we’re confident they won’t spring back. The second thing we need is a robust testing program…we … we’re trying to get the test kits that are in short supply.”
