WENATCHEE, Wash. — Washington state’s Eastmont School District is offering free breakfast and lunch for local and regional officers, to help increase safety at their schools.
All schools in the district will offer the free food every day to officers with local and regional police and sheriff’s departments, and with state patrol and wildlife.
The free breakfast and lunch will be offered thanks to the school district's food provider, Sodexo.
District officials said, “Officers in uniform or undercover officers with ID will be invited to eat with each other, with students, with staff or grab and go.”
The district said the goal is to increase law enforcement presence on school campuses.
The offering will also help to familiarize officers with the schools and provide the opportunity for officers to develop relationships with the students “who one day will be the parents, workers and leaders in the communities they serve.”
