WATCH: 4 people arrested at street racing event in Pierce County

PIERCE COUNTY, Wash. — The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department is issuing a strong warning to street racers, after arresting four people over the weekend.

“Stay out of Pierce County,” the department wrote online. “We will shut you down, arrest you, take your vehicle, take your phones and cameras, and book you for an extended vacation in the Pierce County Jail.”

On Saturday, deputies say they received a series of calls from frustrated drivers and residents about a large group of racers who took over the intersection of Park Avenue South and 108th Street South.

When deputies arrived, everyone scattered, but not before they were able to put stop sticks in front of the tires of one car.

Deputies say the culprits didn’t get far – about only a few blocks.

Cameras and phones were all taken as evidence because deputies say they had video of the street racing event on them.

Two 18-year-old men and two 15-year-old boys were taken into custody.
