SEATTLE — Tree activists broke out in song during a public comment period Wednesday at a Land Use & Neighborhoods Committee meeting in Seattle.
The Land Use & Neighborhoods Committee is chaired by District 6 City Councilmember Dan Strauss.
Before the public comment period began, Strauss explained that groups of three or more would be allowed three minutes.

The group of activists attended to discuss the Seattle Department of Construction and Inspections’ Tree Protections Update.
Resolution 31902 was adopted in October 2019 to consider strategies to protect and increase Seattle’s tree canopy cover. The Urban Forest Management Plan has a 30% canopy cover goal by 2037. The city is currently at 28%, with 72 percent in residential areas. Click here to read more.
