PIERCE COUNTY, Wash. — Pierce County Sheriff’s Deputies used Morse code from the old telegraph days to save a man’s life.
On December 18, they were called to do a welfare check on the man because he hadn’t been seen or heard from in four days.
Deputies say they knew something was wrong with they arrived because they heard loud thuds coming from inside. The man was using Morse code to tap ‘SOS.’
On body-worn video, deputies are heard asking the man to tap the floor to respond to their questions about needing help and whether they could break the door down.
They worked quickly to get inside and found the man on the ground in the front living room. He said he’d been there for days waiting for someone to find him.
The man was rushed to the hospital for treatment and is okay.
