NORTH BEND, Wash. — An overly aggressive grouse interrupted the Washington State Patrol's Fire Training Academy this week, police with the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife announced.
A WDFW officer responded to a call after the command staff at the academy said the grouse attacked their firefighters during training.

WDFW officials said that, when Officer Moszeter arrived at the scene, the grouse began pecking and grabbing at his pant leg.
“The blue grouse was so engrossed in tearing off the pant leg he didn’t notice officer Moszeter slowly bending down to pick him up until it was too late,” a WDFW official wrote on Facebook.

Officials said the grouse was placed in a cage and transported away from the academy.
WDFW did not say where the grouse was relocated.
