SEATTLE — In a website titled “West Valley and Pierce County Malfeasance,” one of Steven Powell’s daughters, Alina Powell, refutes claims made by police, the Coxes and friends of Susan Cox Powell about Susan and Steven’s relationship.
Subtitled “False claims about Susan and Steve,” the site goes on to say that reports that Susan Cox Powell hated her father-in-law, Steven Powell, were not backed up with any evidence.
The website makes use of audio and video to depict the amicable relationship the two had, and show Josh, Susan and Steven Powell spending time together with Josh and Susan's two sons.
Each video is addressed to people who made what the website said were false claims about Steven Powell. Each video begins with a news media excerpt from the person the video is addressed to.
A video to Susan Cox Powell’s parents, Judy and Chuck Cox, is captioned, “The family drives onto a ferry; they play together on the upper ramp. Charlie sits in Grandpa's lap as they drive off the ferry.”
It then begins with the following text:
“Here’s an interview in which Chuck and Judy Cox make accusations about Steve Powell, and try to claim that Susan was the one who said these things about Steve. In this clip, Judy makes pronounced facial expressions as she tries to convince us Steve is “evil.””
The video then switches to an interview with Judy Cox saying, “…that he was creepy, that he was evil, that he was not a nice person.”
The video includes footage of the seemingly happy family during a ferry ride.
Text again appears: “Chuck and Judy, Susan never said those things about my dad. Chuck and Judy, do you believe you’re honoring Susan’s memory by prosecuting a mean-spirited witch hunt against everyone she cared about?”
The other videos, addressed to Debbie Caldwell, who was Susan Cox Powell’s babysitter, Jennifer Graves, Steven Powell’s estranged daughter, Susan Powell’s friend, Kiirsi Hellewell and one titled “a message to all viewers,” follow the same format.
The website also includes audio clips that Alina Powell says are love songs that Susan Cox Powell and Steven Powell worked on together.
“Susan and Steve made beautiful music together; here are a couple of audio segments in which the two worked together on love songs written by Steve. Susan's voice can be heard singing along with Steve in these songs,” the website said.
Two songs, “My Lydia” and “I only feel love,” are posted on the site.
Chuck Cox said Tuesday that he had just learned about the website and did not want to comment until Steve Powell's voyeurism trial is wrapped up.
That case is currently with the jury.
