SEATTLE — Another major traffic project will happen this weekend on I-5 that could cause the worst traffic snarl yet.
Revive I-5 will have northbound I-5 closed at the West Seattle Bridge from Friday at 8 p.m. through Monday at 5 a.m.
The northbound freeway will also be down to two lanes across the Duwamish River out of Tukwila for expansion joint repair.
All of the on-ramps, starting with southbound I-405 to NB I-5, will close extending all the way to the West Seattle Bridge. If you are heading in from West Seattle, you will be able to access I-5 as usual.
Expect delays of an hour or more and the alternate routes, like Airport Way South, First Avenue South, Fourth Avenue South and northbound SR 99, to get extremely busy.
In addition to Revive I-5, lane restrictions will happen in the southbound direction over the ship canal bridge both Saturday and Sunday.
KIRO 7 Traffic Reporter Tracy Taylor spoke with both King County Metro, which said that plans are similar to previous weekends of Revive I-5 work.
Buses may be rerouted to surface streets. Sound Transit said that the Sounder train will be running Sunday for the Mariners game only.
