WHIDBEY ISLAND, Wash. — A passerby spotted a possible humpback whale breaching water Friday, slapping it's tail at passersby.
Noah Person shared video of the interaction with KIRO 7 via Facebook. Person said he saw the whale near the Clinton Ferry dock.
According to the Orca Network, the creature is likely a humpback whale due to its tail-slapping behavior.
Humpback whales are known to repeat this behavior over and over, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration says. Click here to learn more about Humpback Whale behavior.
On Saturday, the Orca Network confirmed two orca sightings in Kingston.
The nonprofit organization reminds boaters to stay at least 200 yard away from any whales they encounter on the water.
