SEATTLE, Wash. — Martin Luther King Jr. Day is always celebrated on the third Monday in January. It also happens to be Inauguration Day, which is always held on January 20th per the U.S. Constitution. The two typically don’t coincide, but they just so happen to fall on the same day this year.
What is open today?
Retailers such as Walmart, Target, and Costco are all operating on normal hours today.
FedEx will have modified delivery service.
Grocery stores and pharmacies, like Safeway or CVS, will also be open.
National parks are open and are waiving entrance fees for everyone.
What is closed today?
UPS is closed.
The U.S. Postal Service is closed as well, so there is no mail delivered.
New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq are closed.
Many bank branches will be closed today, but ATMs and online banking are business as usual.
City, county, state, and federal offices are closed for today, as well as the DMV.
Most schools and libraries are also closed.
