OROVILLE, Wash. — Fire crews are in the beginning stages of mopping up a fire that burned 350 acres Wednesday just north of Ellisforde and south of Oroville, Washington.
Officials with the Northeast Washington Interagency Incident Management Team said The Swanson Mill Fire ignited at about 1:42 p.m.
Officials said crews from several agencies constructed a fire line by using bulldozers and fire engines.
Wind and the land’s topography drove the fire through sagebrush, bunchgrass and scattered Ponderosa Pine, officials said.
Officials said there are hot spots that remain where the fire burned. One outbuilding was also destroyed.
The fire reportedly burned near homes and other structures.
Initial attack fire lines are being assessed for future rehabilitation, officials said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
