Sea-Tac International Airport announced that incoming flights may be delayed almost an hour Sunday night due to thick smoke and haze from wildfires in western Washington.
The FAA alert stated that the delays are due to low visibility, and some arriving flights are delayed an average of 1 hour and 33 minutes.
In all, 373 flights were delayed yesterday with 12 cancellations at Sea-Tac Airport. KIRO 7 checked again this morning, and there were 6 cancellations so far, but no word yet if those are smoke-related.
Check the FAA alert here for additional updates.
Another air quality alert has been issued for western Washington from 10 a.m. this morning to 5 p.m. on Wednesday as the haze returns to Seattle. Residents should stay indoors whenever possible.
