Wildfire threatens over 100 structures in Yakima County

YAKIMA COUNTY, Wash. — The Evans Canyon Fire, located near Selah in Yakima County, is now 2,500 acres and continues to grow.

Just after 9 p.m. Monday level 3 evacuations went into effect for all homes north of Wenas Lake.

The fire is now threatening over 125 structures. At midnight Tuesday state fire assistance was authorized.

The Evans Canyon Fire is burning grass, brush, and light timber.

Overnight the fire is expected to keep moving eastward down Wenas Canyon, due to winds gusting from the northwest.
