Witnesses, photos sought in bonfire shooting

The Washington State Patrol (WSP) is seeking witnesses to a shooting that happened in the Capitol State Forrest.

WSP says an 18-year-old Centralia man was shot on December 6th around 10 pm near the intersection of the C-7100 and C-7100A roads in the Capitol State Forest.

They say a group of around 50 individuals were gathered for a large bonfire when an argument broke out between several people.

WSP says the argument resulted in a 22-year-old man allegedly shooting the 18-year-old victim in the foot.

The 22-year-old man was arrested and booked into Thurston County Jail for Assault in the Second Degree.

Investigators are looking for additional witnesses to the shooting, especially those who may have photos or videos of the event. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Detective Adam Gruener at 253-538-3176 or by email at adam.gruener@wsp.wa.gov.
