Woman accused of biting part of man's ear off during fight

DES MOINES, Wash. — A Burien woman was charged in King County Superior Court with second-degree assault after police say she bit off part of a man's ear during a fight.

The assault is alleged to have happened Sept. 29 outside a home in Des Moines -- near Saltwater State Park.

In a probable cause document, police said they responded to reports of a fight outside the home around 12:30 a.m.

Arriving officers said a 26-year-old man and his 23-year-old friend were fighting a 31-year-old man, but stopped when they were asked to go inside by the 26-year-old's father – a 52-year-old.

According to the probable cause document, the 52-year-old man, the 31-year-old man and his 30-year-old girlfriend stayed outside.

Prosecutors say Kristina M. Musga, 30, then got into a fight with her 31-year-old boyfriend.

In a probable cause document, police said the 31-year-old man grabbed Musga by the neck but was taken down to the ground by the 52-year-old man.

"While (the 52-year-old man) was holding the (31-year-old man) on the ground, (Musga) grabbed (the 52-year-old) from behind and bit the top half of his left ear completely off," police wrote in the probable cause document.

The 52-year-old man was transported to a hospital for treatment and police said his ear will need reconstructive surgery.

Musga was booked into jail on investigation of assault.

Prosecutors said Musga was later released on her personal recognizance because she has no known prior convictions.

Prosecutors requested that Musga have no contact with the victim and her arraignment, where she will enter a plea, is expected to happen later in October.
