Woman arrested after attempted kidnapping in Mountlake Terrace store

MOUNTLAKE TERRACE, Wash. — A woman was arrested on Monday after assaulting a child and attempting to kidnap a second child in a Mountlake Terrace store, according to the Mountlake Terrace Police Department.

Officers responded to a report of an assault around 4:15 p.m. in the 22800 block of 44th Avenue West.

According to witnesses, a 32-year-old woman attempted to assault a 13-year-old girl outside the store until her mother intervened.

The woman then went inside the store and approached a 7-year-old boy and his father.

According to police, the woman grabbed the boy and attempted to leave with him.

A store employee confronted the woman and freed the boy.

After the woman was taken to a hospital for behavioral health reasons, she was booked into the Snohomish County Jail.

Police believe there is no connection between her and the victims.
