A woman and child hospitalized after being hit by car in Puyallup, driver arrested

PUYALLUP, Wash. — Police are investigating a car versus pedestrian crash that sent an 18-year-old and a 2-year-old to the hospital in Puyallup.

Around 2:41 p.m. on Sunday, Puyallup police officers answer a call about a car versus pedestrian crash near the corner of 12th Avenue Northwest and 15th Street Northwest.

When police arrived, they found an 18-year-old girl and a 2-year-old girl with injuries.

Crews from Central Pierce Fire & Rescue took them to a Tacoma area hospital with serious injuries.

The driver, a 32-year-old man had two juveniles in the car but none were hurt.

Investigators determined that the driver showed signs of intoxication from narcotics and arrested him.

The driver was taken to Pierce County Jail on suspicion of DUI. Police are recommending the driver be charged with two counts of vehicular assault, two counts of reckless endangerment and driving without a license.
