PARKLAND, Wash. — A woman died Easter Sunday afternoon during a fire at a Parkland apartment building, according to Central Pierce Fire and Rescue officials.
Crews were called about 3:30 p.m. along 112th Street South.
Firefighters said the fire was widespread when they rushed to knock down the flames.
“They came across a victim in the primary fire unit,” said Dennis Lawson, with Central Pierce Fire and Rescue. “The victim was removed and resuscitation efforts began unsuccessfully. Unfortunately, the patient passed away.”
Officials did not say how old the woman was, but investigators said she had at least one child.
No other injuries were reported. However, families living in four other units were displaced.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
