INDEX, Wash. — A 20-year-old climber fell and suffered serious injuries Thursday in Index, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.
Search and rescue units responded to the Lower Wall area and said the woman experienced head and spinal injuries.
Because the terrain is “very dangerous,” a helicopter was requested and pulled the woman to safety.
She was flown to Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett to be checked out. Officials said she was conscious and her injuries were still being assessed.
It is not yet known what led to the woman’s fall.
