SEATTLE — Police say a driver who followed a woman into a Seattle police precinct parking lot had a knife hidden under his legs and a wallet belonging to someone else in his car.
On Monday at 12:22 a.m., a woman called 911 to report that a strange vehicle had been following her for several miles. She drove to the Seattle Police Department’s Southwest Precinct parking lot on Southwest Webster Street for safety.
The suspect followed the woman into the lot, where officers then approached and spoke with the man. Police said the suspect told them a man he had just met in a bar in North Seattle asked him to follow the victim home.
As officers continued to speak with the man, they said his story changed. After finding out the man had a suspended license and was required to have an ignition interlock device in his vehicle, which was not equipped with one, they asked him to get out of his car.

When the man got out of the car, officers saw a kitchen knife on the driver’s seat, which had been hidden under his legs.
The man then claimed he had been following the woman from a bar, but the victim told officers she was driving home to West Seattle from Burien.
Officers said as they continued to talk to the man, he volunteered that he had been convicted of a felony stemming from a stabbing murder.
A wallet with a Washington driver’s license inside that did not belong to the suspect was also seen inside the car. It was later recovered with permission from the suspect.
The man was arrested for driving on a suspended license and an ignition interlock violation.
