EVERETT, Wash. — The body of a woman that was found outside an apartment complex in South Everett is raising neighbors' fears. Now, Snohomish County detectives are calling her death "suspicious."

Police discovered the body Sunday morning along 132nd Street SW near 8th Ave West.

Neighbors said they heard nothing and saw nothing out of the ordinary.

The Snohomish County Sheriff's Office issued a press release two and half hours after the body was discovered.

It said the Sheriff's Office had received a report of "suspicious circumstances." A woman's body was lying outside, shielded by bushes, near what we now know is the Wynnwood Townhomes.

The release said there were no obvious signs of trauma on the body.  The Sheriff's Office has said little else.

Neighbor Ryan Cordell said he wasn't told anything either.

"No, there was an officer walking a little old lady to her apartment and I asked him," said Cordell, "and he said, 'We're investigating a death."

"My suspicion goes toward somebody got killed," said Cordell.

The terrible discovery sparked a big response from the Snohomish County sheriff.

"I left around 9:30, 9:40 (a.m.)," said Jessica Zadorozny, who said she has lived in the neighborhood for several years. "And all's I saw was everything roped off and several police cars."

Like so many of her neighbors, she didn't know that someone had found a woman dead just before 8 a.m.

"So that sounds about right, because it's not like we heard anything during the night or anything weird,"  Zadorozny said.

Whatever happened some residents are on edge.

"It's just really shocking," said Zadorozny. "You know, very unusual for this area."

The Snohomish County Medical Examiner is expected to perform an autopsy Monday morning.
