As chaos continues to unfold in Kabul, a pregnant woman from Afghanistan started feeling ill and went into labor during an evacuation flight to Germany.
The aircraft commander descended the U.S. Air Force C-17, causing the air pressure to increase, which helped stabilize the woman’s condition.
After the plane landed at Ramstein Air Base in Germany, the woman gave birth in the cargo bay of the plane.
Officials said the baby and the mother were taken to the hospital and are in good condition.
Incidentally, the C-17 bore the markings of the 62nd and 446th Air Wings based at Joint Base Lewis-McChord.
