PIERCE COUNTY, Wash. — A woman was killed in a crash in Pierce County on Sunday afternoon, police said.
The crash happened around 11 a.m. in the 12800 block of Canyon Road at 128th Street E.
Officials said 32-year-old man was driving a white sedan west on 128th Street E and a 31-year-old woman was driving a black SUV south on Canyon Road.
The woman in the SUV turned west onto 128th Street E moments before the man driving the sedan reached the intersection.
The sedan hit the SUV from behind, then went up and over it before landing upside down on the road.
The man driving the sedan sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The woman driving the SUV died at the scene.
Witnesses told police the suspect was driving recklessly and over 100 mph. Investigators are looking into whether drugs or alcohol are involved.
Police said the suspect is in the hospital and he was arrested on suspicion of vehicular homicide.
