SEATTLE — UPDATE: The woman who was stabbed at Seattle Center yesterday has died, per a spokesperson from Harborview Medical Center.
A man stabbed his domestic partner Friday at Seattle Center, and the woman had life-threatening injuries.
The couple’s 4-year-old boy was at the scene when the woman was stabbed, and police were caring for him Friday night in coordination with Child Protective Services.
Police were called at 4:19 p.m. about the stabbing at MOD Pizza, one of more than a dozen eateries in the Seattle Center Armory across from the Space Needle. Officers provided aid to the woman until medics arrived.
The boy’s father fled but was followed by a witness who helped direct police to him near Fifth Avenue and Broad Street shortly after the stabbing, investigators said.
Officers recovered the knife believed to have been used in the attack. The investigation was ongoing.
The Armory is a gathering space for events that also has food options, including a Starbucks and Subway. More than 3,000 free public performances occur in Seattle Center Armory each year, according to center staff, and it is a popular stop for tourists. The building was constructed in 1939 and initially renovated for the 1962 Seattle World’s Fair.
