KIRKLAND, Wash. — Troopers are investigating a major crash in Kirkland involving a wrong-way driver.
The crash at southbound Interstate 405 at Northeast 70th Place happened shortly after 2 a.m. Tuesday.
Three lanes were blocked for hours. All southbound lanes have since reopened.
Two vehicles were involved. Troopers said the woman who was driving the wrong way in the southbound lanes was the only person in her vehicle.
The vehicle that was hit by the wrong-way driver had two adults inside, according to the Washington State Patrol.
All three people were taken to Harborview Medical Center. Their conditions are not known.
The female wrong-way driver is under the custody of a trooper for suspicion of DUI while she is at the hospital.
Troopers are investigating the crash as a vehicular assault.
Video from the scene showed a large truck moved to the shoulder and a car with catastrophic damage.
