WSDOT: More than four inches of snow falls at Sherman Pass

(WSDOT)

As the snow began to hit some passes across the state starting Friday, the Washington State Department of Transportation tweeted out some photos Saturday of snow coming down at Sherman Pass, which is located near Kettle Falls in the northeast part of the state.

Officials with WSDOT said crews were having a difficult time keeping up with the snow, which was accumulating over a 12-mile stretch of road on State Route 20/Sherman Pass.

Crews reported about 4 to 6 inches of snow was falling and several trees had fallen due to the weight of the snow and wind in the area, officials said. Crews used a coffee cup to measure the depth of the snow.

Additional crews were called from Colville to the summit to help plow the snow.

WSDOT warned drivers on that route to use caution and give their crews space to plow.
