LAKEWOOD, Wash. — A now-retired Lakewood police dog is accused of attacking a person for no reason.
The Seattle Times reports the man says the K-9 named Astor attacked him in 2012.
The dog and his handler were searching for a suspect in the woods near Bates Technical College.
The man said in a lawsuit that even after he put his hands up, the dog kept attacking, permanently injuring his leg.
The city sold Astor to his handler for $1 in 2013 just before the handler and dog were defendants in another attack lawsuit.
Last year, Pierce County paid $225,000 to a man who was attacked by Astor while on a walk in 2011.
