Man injured after jumping off Tacoma Narrows Bridge

West Pierce Fire and Rescue responded to the scene.

TACOMA, Wash. — A 35-year-old man jumped off the Tacoma Narrows Bridge Friday afternoon, Washington State Patrol Trooper Guy Gill said.

Gill said the man was wearing a life jacket.

An eyewitness who saw the man hit the water told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News that the man was wearing jeans, a T-shirt and tennis shoes. He also reportedly had a GoPro camera strapped to his chest.

The eyewitness helped pull the man to the shore and called police. He said that the man did not seem to know where he was, and he appeared to have extensive injuries.

Gill said the man was conscious and breathing. He was transported to Tacoma General Hospital.

No empty vehicle was found on the bridge, according to Gill.
