RAINIER, Washington — Firefighters worked Thursday afternoon to rescue two paratroopers from Joint Base Lewis-McChord who became stuck in a tree, military officials told KIRO 7.

The paratroopers landed in an area near Rainier, near the intersection of Military Road Southeast and 138th Avenue Southeast, the base said. They were not injured.

JBLM spokesman Joe Piek said the troopers were blown into the trees by wind during training, which isn't uncommon. In fact, part of their training is to learn how to escape from becoming entangled in a tree.
