Thousands of former Molina Healthcare members are being informed their social security numbers may have been mistakenly included in a postcard sent to them.
This data breach affects Washington state residents.
KIRO 7 called Molina Healthcare headquarters in California asking if Washington state residents were affected.
A spokesperson confirmed 17 former members across the state have been notified their social security numbers may have been displayed.
Molina Healthcare said it ordered more than 5,000 postcards from Creel Printing.
Instead of a tracking number, the postcards had social security numbers printed on them.
"Creel did not know that some SSNs were listed instead," the company said in a statement.
The postcards didn't include the former members' name, but were addressed to "resident."
KIRO 7 questioned how only 17 former members are believed to have been affected when around 5,200 people got a postcard.
How did Washington customers get so lucky?
KIRO 7 is still waiting to hear back.
